Mahogany Springs is one of the luxurious accommodation options in Buhoma sector of Bwindi Impenetrable National Park; set at the backdrop of the pristine Munyanga river overlooking the stunning Bwindi rain forest.
Accommodation at Mahogany springs is provided in superior suites coming in doubles, twins and triple rooms. They are spaciously well furnished with large windows and a private terrace overlooking the forest. The bathrooms are en suite with hot running water and terracotta shower.
The honeymoon suit is almost the same as the superior suite but with additional facilities like a bathtub and a larger bed. The presidential or family suite can act as a twin, double, triple or even quadruple coming with two bedrooms, en suite showers, a living room and a large terrace overlooking the river and forest.
The well designed lodge gardens with stone pathways leads to the river with superb views of village vegetable gardens. Mahogany Springs Lodge is managed by one of the most experienced lodges managers in East Africa; who has worked in 6 up market safari lodges in Kenya. He has taught other staff to highest levels to always give attention to customer service.
The lodge has one of the best chefs; Mahedev Subedi from Nepal with high class experience of cooking in safari lodges for over 20 years. The rest of the staff is from local communities within Uganda trained to serve staff with hospitality.
Gorilla Trekking from Mahogany Springs Lodge
The main reason why people visit Bwindi Impenetrable Forest is to trek mountain gorillas. Mountain gorillas share 98 percent DNA with us humans, meaning they are our close relatives. Mountain gorillas cannot survive in zoos and can only survive in their natural high-altitude habitat. Trekking always starts in the morning and takes 2 hours to 7 hours depending on the pace of hikers and location of the gorilla family.
How to get there
Buhoma Sector of Bwindi Impenetrable National Park can be reached in an eight hour’s drive from Kampala or Entebbe or through Ishasha Sector of Queen Elizabeth National Park. Tourists can alternatively board a standard chartered flight from Entebbe International Airport of Kajjansi Airfield to Kihihi Airstrip.
