MASAI MARA ENTRY FEES.

MASAI MARA ENTRY FEES
Entry fees to Masai Mara are based on the location of the camp or lodge at which one is staying in the reserve. For 2023, if staying at accommodation located inside the main National Reserve, the entrance fee is USD 70 per adult per day and USD 40 per child under 12 years of age. If you are staying at accommodation outside the main reserve, the entry fee increases to USD 80 per adult per 12 hours and USD 45 per child per 12 hours.
Some changes were implemented from 1st July 2023, affecting the 12-hour validity. Notable points to consider include that guests staying outside the reserve will be required to pay a daily entry fee, with the ticket valid from 6 am to 6 pm. Additionally, all guests departing from the reserve by road should exit no later than 10 am, as staying beyond this time will incur an additional entry fee. Guests residing both inside and outside the reserve departing by air should arrive at the airstrip no later than 10 am, as an extension beyond this time will be considered an additional day in the park, incurring an additional fee.
Narok County Government has confirmed that Masai Mara Park Fees for 2024 will be increased to USD 100 per non-resident adult per day from 1st January 2024 to 30th June 2024, and USD 200 per non-resident adult per day from 1st July 2024 onwards, with a USD 50 per day fee per child. These increased rates were initially proposed but have now been confirmed by the County Government as of mid-October 2023.
Payment in cash in US Dollars or Kenya Shillings is accepted at the entry gates. However, if you are paying for entry to the western side of the reserve, only cashless payments are accepted (either Visa/Mastercard or Mpesa Mobile Money). Cashless payment methods are also accepted as an option at all the other gates, including Sekenani and Talek gates. Citizens and residents of Kenya are required to carry identification and proof of residence to avail of the cheaper resident rates.
Some of the well-known lodges and camps located inside the Masai Mara National Reserve include Sarova Mara Camp, Keekorok Lodge, Governors Camp, Ol Moran Camp, Mara Explorer Camp, Mara Leisure Camp, Fig Tree Camp, Mara Intrepids Camp, Mara Simba Lodge, and Sand River Masai Mara Camp.
Resident rates are applicable to residents of Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Rwanda, and Burundi. Visitors must present their National ID (for Kenyan citizens) or Passport displaying work permits or appropriate visas to prove resident status upon entrance into the reserve. Visitors without a valid passport are required to pay the non-resident rates. Child rates apply to persons aged 3 to 11 years old, while persons under 3 years old enter for free. Student rates are only applicable for persons aged up to 23 years old, sponsored by a recognized learning institution, and in possession of a valid student ID. They should be visiting the reserve on a prearranged school-organized trip or for research authorized by the ticketing office of the Masai Mara Reserve in Narok. Students must obtain permission to use these special rates at least two weeks in advance of their visit.
When planning your tour to Masai Mara National Reserve, make sure to include the entry fees in your budget to plan accordingly.
